Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman – KS3 Unit of Work
Noughts and Crosses is a unit of work containing a 161-slide PowerPoint, 28 PDF worksheets and 15 lessons. Romeo and Juliet - The Prince’s Speech (PowerPoint and worksheets)
This Romeo and Juliet teaching resource is designed to help students develop their knowledge and understanding of themes and Shakespeare’s use of language. The lesson requires pupils to analyse the Prince’s speech closely, pulling out quotations which reflect the Prince’s character and the themes of anger, violence and hatred. They need to write an analysis of the speech in detail using PETER.
This is a four part lesson which contains reading, comprehension, analysis and a written outcome. There are opportunities for individual and paired work and differentiation is provided via the PETER scaffolding and model answer for those students which require additional help.

Limericks - Year 5 / Year 6
This KS2 lesson teaches children about limericks in a fun and engaging way. First, it provides examples of limericks and explains what the ‘rules’ of limericks are. It then provides a task that requires children to explore the examples and discuss the poems regarding layout, structure and language. The second half of the lesson explains how to write a limerick. Pupils are given a scaffolded approach and an example to help them construct a class and then individual limerick.
